 Nasubi Net Worth

Nasubi Net Worth: Hamatsu Tomoaki, born on 3 August 1975), was better known as Nasubi. He is a Japanese comedian who was challenged to be alone, without clothes, in a flat for Susumu! Denpa Shōnen (January 1998 – March 2002), a Japanese reality television show on Nippon Television, after winning a lottery for an ‘entertainment-related job’. He was challenged to participate in a mail-order lottery until he won a total of one million yen (approximately US$10,000).

He started with nothing (including clothes), cut off from outside communications and broadcasting, and had nothing to keep him company except the magazines he flipped through to find lottery entry forms. After taking 335 days to reach his goal, he set the world record for the ‘longest time to survive a race win’.

Nasubi finally set a new Guinness World Record for ‘longest time surviving with contest winnings’. Nasubi lived on camera with only the items won through the competition and a stack of contestant cards. Due to her nudity, cartoon graphics with aubergines were strategically used when Nasubi was on camera.

Nasubi is the Japanese word for ‘aubergine’: this nickname was chosen because of her 30 cm long, bony face, which is slanted like a Japanese aubergine. Nasubi happily accepted, believing that she would receive special treatment for her hard work. After having her eyes removed, she found herself in South Korea, where she was taken on a tour of the city and taken to a flat. Once again he was stripped naked and forced to participate in a lottery, this time to win enough money to return home. The whole ordeal lasted about 15 months, during which time a diary of his experiences isolating himself from the outside world became a best seller in Japan.

Ironically, as hard as it was to become a famous comedian, Nasubi failed to make it in the world of television variety shows. Instead, he became a local talent in his home region of Fukushima and a theatre actor, founding the theatre company Eggplant Way, and performing all over Japan. He has starred in Densha Otoko, Trick, Atashinchi no Danshi and recently played the character of Watcherman in Kamen Rider W.
